Cauble Park on Lake Acworth is the place to be on
Labor Day weekend as the City of Acworth celebrates “Love the Lake.”
The two-day festival will feature a parade, arts and crafts vendors,
entertainment, food and children's events.
A special parade on Saturday begins at 10 a.m. The
festival takes place from 10 a.m. to 6 pm. on Saturday and noon to 6
p.m. on Sunday.
More than 100 vendors, a puppet show, a pizza eating
contest, a tropical bird show and ski demonstrations will fill two
days as the city celebrates the beach. Vendors will be offering
jewelry, furniture, handmade clothing, paintings, birdhouses, piggy
banks and other arts and crafts.
The festival also features a wide array of food, from
polish sausages and hamburgers to candied apples and funnel cakes.
Two stages showcase entertainment. The Gazebo stage
will fill the air with acoustic sounds. The Beach House stage will
feature dance groups, school choruses, clogging groups and local
bands.
A huge Kids’ Zone will have a 33-foot shark slide, a
120-foot roller coaster obstacle course, a Euro bungee quad jump, a
rock wall and a trackless train for children.
The Atlanta Ski Club provides the on-the-water
entertainment, with trick skiing, wake boarding, acrobatic skiing
and ski jumping.
Hosted by the Acworth Business Association and the
City of Acworth, the event has been held for several years.
Admission is free.
Shuttle service from remote parking locations is free
as well.
Applications for parade entries and vendors can be
found online at www.acworth.org/aprd or contact the Acworth Parks
and Recreation office at 770 917-1234.
