The Corps of Engineers welcomes you to beautiful Lake Sidney Lanier. Located just 35 miles northeast of Atlanta, the lake offers some of the finest camping opportunities in the South.
The Corps operates 7 campgrounds at Lake Lanier (see map below). Camping enthusiasts may enjoy the luxuries of fully developed areas with water and electrical hookups or “rough it” at designated primitive areas.
Most campgrounds have park attendants on duty to assist our visitors. Camping in undesignated areas such as on the lake’s shoreline and islands is prohibited.
RULES AND REGULATIONS: The following guidelines are not intended as restraints to the enjoyment of park visitors, but as aids for orderly operation, visitor safety and for the protection of the environment and public property. Complete rules and regulations are posted at the entrances to all campgrounds and copies are available at entry stations.
REGISTRATION: All campers and their visitors are required to register at the entry station.
CAMPSITE OCCUPANCY: Campsites are limited to a maximum of eight people and three motorized vehicles (includes motor home). Due to limited parking only one camper trailer or motor home is allowed per site. All tents must be placed on the designated impact area. Visitors must depart the campground by 9:30 p.m., or when the camper checks out prior to this time. CHECKOUT TIME is 3 p.m. An additional fee will be charged for late departure. MINORS: Only adults (18 or over) may rent campsites. Children may not be left in areas without supervision.
MOTORIZED VEHICLES: Park passes must be displayed in vehicles. All motorized vehicles in the park must be street legal and operated by licensed drivers. Parking off designated areas is prohibited. GARBAGE should be deposited at the dumpster located near the park’s entry station. Please keep campsites clean.
GRAY WATER: The discharge of gray water and sewage is prohibited. Please use dump stations.
PARK GATES: Park gates are locked from 10:30 p.m. until 7 a.m. For emergencies, contact the park attendant.
NOISE: Quiet hours are from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. Unreasonable or excessive noise at any time is prohibited.
PETS: All pets must be kept on a leash not exceeding 6 feet in length. Pets are not allowed in restrooms, playgrounds, shelters or designated swim areas.
FIRES: All fires must be confined in designated fire rings or grills. Only dead wood on the ground may be used for firewood.
