Shea
Sennett,
Park Ranger, US Army Corps of Engineers
With dual bachelor of science
degrees in Forestry and Wildlife Biology from Mississippi State
University, Allatoona Park Ranger Shea Sennett is suited to her job.
She’s been with the Corps of Engineers since January 1998, working
on the Tenn-Tomm Waterway in MS, Big Hill Lake in Kansas, and the
Atchafalaya River Basin in Louisiana.
She came to Allatoona Lake last
December where she works in the Land Management Section. She also
assists with shoreline management duties.
“My job gives me the opportunity
to work outside and not be inside behind a desk all the time,” she
said. “I am a nature lover and need to be outside. Also, my job has
the tendency to provide many different challenges and I love a
challenge.”
She received a Civil Service
Award, and numerous certificates of appreciation for various things,
including working with Hurricane Katrina for more than a year while
in Louisiana. Sennett said that her career goal is to grow in her
ranger career and gain the knowledge to someday become an operations
manager.
Born in Amory, Miss., she was
raised in Columbus, Miss. She and her husband Jason have two
children – Kaitlyn, 5, and Hunter 3. They live in Cartersville. Her
hobbies include playing softball, hunting and spending time with her
family.
Her advice to people coming to
the lake? “Always be diligent and aware of your surroundings.
Respect the environment and other people around you by being safe
and taking care of the environment for everyone to enjoy.” |
