Parks & Campgrounds
The Corps of Engineers welcomes you to beautiful Lake Sidney Lanier.
Located just 35 miles northeast of Atlanta, the lake offers some of the finest camping opportunities in the South.
The Corps operates
7 campgrounds at Lake Lanier (see map below). Camping enthusiasts may enjoy the luxuries of fully developed areas with water and electrical hookups or “rough it” at designated primitive areas.
Most campgrounds have park attendants on duty to assist our visitors. Camping in undesignated areas such as on the lake’s shoreline and islands is prohibited.
2018 park schedule
All day-use parks will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fees vary between parks.
Bolding Mill & Sawnee Campgrounds are usually open year-round. However, the Corps of Engineers announced that Sawnee Campground and Bolding Mill Campground will be closed December 1, 2018 through February 28, 2019. The campgrounds will be closed to give the dump stations time to recover from heavy usage. For any questions concerning this information, contact the US Army Corps of Engineers at 770-945-9531.
Bald Ridge and Old Federal Campgrounds will be open March 29 through October 20. Duckett Mill, Van Pugh South and Toto Creek will be open March 29 through September 15.
