Flags across Lanier

By Pamela A. Keene

Saturday, June 14 was Flag Day, a sort of warm-up for celebrating the patriotism of the Fourth of July.

American’s Boating Club Atlanta hosted its first 2020 on-the-water event since the COVID-19 shutdown by assembling a Flag Day Boat Parade.

Nine boats, ranging from cruisers to pontoons, gathered at Buford Dam, made a swing through the waters at Lanier Islands before gathering for lunch and an impromptu awards ceremony at University Yacht Club’s Carswell Pavilion. Commander Dave Fuller recognized members who have been contributing behind the scenes to support membership and education as well as to prepare for getting back on the lake for existing members and prospective new colleagues.
