LLA Shore Sweep
Date & Time
September 28th, 2013 8:00 AM
Shore Sweep, put on by the Lake Lanier Association, focuses on 11 locations around the lake and nearby shorelines: Aqualand Marina, Clarks Bridge Park, Gainesville Marina, Holiday Marina, Lake Lanier Islands, Sunrise Cove Marina, War Hill Park, Bald Ridge Marina, Habersham Marina, Port Royale Marina, and Lanier Harbor Marina. Volunteers may pick up trash bags at the Shore Sweep location and deposit their loads at the location, except for Lake Lanier Islands. Shore Sweep workers can enter the resort’s main gate to collect trash at no charge.
Those wishing to help out in advance can bring bagged trash or large items to an advance location a week before Shore Sweep. Advanced locations, some of which are accessible only by boat, are located near Bald Ridge Marina, Aqualand Marina, Lanier Harbor Marina, Port Royale Marina, Gainesville Marina, Wahoo Creek/Clarks Bridge, and War Hill Park. (See Shore Sweep link at www.lakelanier.org for exact locations).
Shore Sweep participants turning in a bag of trash get a t-shirt designed by a Lake Lanier-area child and selected in an annual contest.
Volunteers should wear gloves and dress for muddy conditions. Registration is not required, but helps organizers get the shoreline covered.
