Giving back at Magical Nights of Lights

By Pamela A. Keene
The Williams Family is known for its benevolence, often supporting charitable organizations behind the scenes throughout the year. So, in honor of the 25th anniversary of Lanier Islands’ Magical Nights of Lights, the family has designated a number of ways that visitors to the 7-mile sparkling holiday light display can save money and help no-profit organizations at the same time.
“This year, we’re giving back in more ways than one,” said Mike Williams, CEO of Lanier Islands. “We’re offering some of our lowest admission rates in recent memory – just $35 per vehicle when purchased in advance online and $45 per vehicle at the gate, no matter the night, plus special pricing and a chance to make donations of toys and non-perishable foods on designated nights.”
Children, teachers and members of the military are the benefactors at this year’s event with opportunities to give and to receive.
  • Georgia Mountain Food Bank Mondays – December 4, 11: Bring five cans of non-perishable food and receive admission to Magical Nights of Lights for just $25/vehicle
  • U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Tuesdays – December 5, 12: Bring an unwrapped toy and receive admission to Magical Nights of Lights for just $25/vehicle
  • Education Appreciation Wednesdays – December 6, 13: Georgia teachers and school employees can show their school ID to receive admission to Magical Nights of Lights for just $25/vehicle.
Retired and active members of the U.S. military, police officers, firefighters and first responders need only show their valid ID at the gate to receive a special admission rate of just $25/vehicle every night of the 2017 Magical Nights of Lights season, which runs through January 3, 2018.
This year’s Magical Nights of Lights, includes carnival rides, Holiday Village with Bucky’s Gift Shop and Santa’s Workshop, seven miles of sparkling holiday light displays and festive food.
“We’re so excited about going back to our 25-year tradition, as well as adding even more glittering fun this year,” said Missy Burgess public relations director for the Islands. “We hope everyone will come out and join us, and that they will purchase their tickets online to save even more off our new low price.”

Celebrate New Year’s Eve
Lanier Islands rings in the New Year with Party Nation Band at Peachtree Pointe Pavilion, just outside the gates of the resort. “We’ve moved the celebration so that we can accommodate more guests this year,” said Burgess. “The evening will have a Great Gatsby theme and with the big-band sound of Party Nation, it’s going to be a great evening.”
Fireworks will signal the arrival of 2018. Packages are available that may include accommodations, buffet dinner and other extras. For information or reservations for the Lanier Islands celebration, visit
