Lanier Islands’ Seafood Buffet

By Pamela A. Keene

Seafood Saturdays and all the trimmings return to Sidney’s Restaurant at Lanier Island’s Legacy Lodge for summer. Guests can choose from three fresh fish entrees each week, plus salmon, chicken, prime rib and other specials. Opened on Memorial Day weekend, it will continue through the summer.

“Our goal is to provide an excellent assortment of seafood focusing on what’s fresh,” said Chef Michael Klein, culinary director for Lanier Islands. “We are creating specials that will change from week to week in addition to popular items like our steamed snow crab legs and spicy Cajun peel and eat boiled shrimp.”

Some of the newer items include mussels with pasta in a hand-crafted wine sauce, shrimp scampi and dry-rubbed St. Louis-style ribs.

The Sidney’s fresh salad choices include cole slaw, potato salad, smoked salmon and hand-cut seasonal fruit. Freshly prepared vegetables supplement the entrée selections. Slow-roasted locally grown prime rib from River Farms is carved and served with horseradish cream. House-made dessert selections will vary from week to week.

“Another feature is our weekly chef’s live action station, where we will prepare features to order. Items change weekly,” he said.

“While many people think of Sidney’s as fine dining, you can come here in your resort casual attire,” he said. Sidney’s has recently remodeled to add patio dining.

“If you make reservations for Sidney’s Seafood Saturday, the $15 gate fee will be waived,” Klein said. “we will have a list of reservations at the gate to confirm.”
