By Pamela A. Keene

Mark your calendars for this year’s Annual Meeting of the Lake Lanier Association to be held at Aqualand Marina. It will take place on Saturday, April 13, beginning at 4 p.m. with a business expo and taste of the lake.

“Our taste of the lake was so popular last year that we have again invited four of Lanier’s restaurants to provide samples from their menus,” said Joanna Cloud, executive director of the association. “We encourage everyone to come out at support the association and learn about our initiatives for a Full Lake. Clean Lake. Safe Lake.”

Restaurants participating include Skogies, Pelican Pete’s, Fish Tales, and Pig Tales, who will be serving signature food items.

The business meeting will begin at 6 p.m. with updates about the group’s Shore Sweep, Abandoned and Derelict Docks and Vessels, Solar Lights, Adopt-a-Lake, Island Rip Rap and other ongoing projects. President Wilton Rooks will also report about the group’s progress on education about the 100-foot rule, as part of the association’s safety campaign.

As of late March the keynote speaker had not been announced.

Following the meeting, the association is hosting musical entertainment for continued socializing until 8 p.m.,” Cloud said. “It will be a chance to get to know other boaters, volunteers and lake residents, as well as businesses. And if you’re not a member, you can join at this meeting.”
