Sailing club hosts open house May 13

Come out and experience the sailing life on Saturday, May 13, when Lake Lanier Sailing Club in Flowery Branch hosts its annual open house.
 
Members will offer tours of the clubhouse, marina and beach, sailboat rides, one-design race boat demonstrations, kayaking and stand-up paddleboard, plus information about programs for youth and adults. The club’s beach near Old Federal Park will also be open for swimming.
 
“We want people to come out and experience the fun and camaraderie of sailing,” said Amy Larkin, past commodore of Lake Lanier Sailing Club. “We have a terrific family atmosphere and a full calendar of activities all year long for children and adults.” 
 
Founded in October 1958, the club how has nearly 375 member families. LLSC promotes sailing that ranges from casual cruising to competitive racing. It also sponsors an active junior program to teach young people about the mechanics and sportsmanship of sailing. Both the Georgia Tech and University of Georgia collegiate sailing clubs are based at Lake Lanier Sailing Club.
 
The open house takes place from 1 to 4 p.m. at the club, 6206 Commodore Dr., Flowery Branch. It is located off Old Federal Road. For more information, visit www.llsc.com.
